Nigeria has made history as its women’s bobsled team has qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics for the first time.

Ngozi Onwumere; brakewomen, Akuoma Omeoga and driver Seun Adigun will fly Nigeria’s flag at the Games billed for Pyeongchang.

After five qualifying races, the trio will be heading to South Korea in February.

The Bobsled and Skeleton Sports Federation of Nigeria (BSFN) are ecstactic over the trio’s qualification for the Winter Olympic.

“Ecstatic to say the least!” posted the Bobsled and Skeleton Sports Federation of Nigeria (BSFN). “To see a mere dream come to reality is a true blessing.

“Their hard work was inspiring and I hope Nigerians can appreciate what it took for them to achieve this.”

For Adigun, she had once dreamed of being the first woman to play in the NBA. She had tasted success in the 100m hurdles and also represented Nigeria at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

She told the BBC in March that, “We are from a continent that would never imagine sliding down ice at 80 or 90 miles per hour.

“I find the idea of getting people to take to that inspiring in itself.”

Also, compatriot Adeagbo aims to compete in the skeleton. Adeagho is a four-time NCAA All American and triple jump school record holder.
