Where is Cynthia Morgan?

Singer Cynthia Morgan came into the industry with such vibrant energy that she usually commanded attention wherever she went. Signed to Jude Okoye’s Northside Entertainment, she released two songs, Don’t Break my Heart and Lead me On, in 2013, which went on to top charts across the country and beyond.

In addition to her talent, she is also sexy. So many touted her as the diva that would rule the music industry in a short while. However, Cynthia’s career hasn’t been that promising. Her last favourable hit, Baby Mama, was released in 2015, and it seems the tough-talking artiste has since gone into hibernation.

While other female singers like Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and Simi are making waves, Morgan has been eerily silent. Many reasons have been adduced for her silence; none of them has been confirmed though. It was reported that she had fallen out with Jude’s wife, who felt Cynthia was having an affair with her husband. At a time, Peter (P-Square) also stated that he was initially supposed to sign Morgan to his company, but his elder brother, Jude, snatched her from him.

In a recent chat with her handlers, it was claimed that Cynthia is busy working on her debut album, and has decided to stay off public glare in order to concentrate fully. However, she released a song, Summer Time, earlier in the year, which cannot be described as a success in any way. Barely getting airplay, the song fizzled out almost as soon as it was released.

Some have also opined that Morgan is not connecting with her audience. “She sings like she’s in Jamaica. This is Nigeria and you have to do something that would connect with the fans, instead of speaking patwa that the majority of the people don’t even understand.

“Besides, how many Jamaican people have you ever heard singing in Igbo? I believe she is talented but she needs to get her acts together. Already, she has been practically displaced from the scene. So, she has a lot of work to do if she still hopes to have a successful music career,” a fan said.
