El-Rufai had accused the PDP of renting the mammoth crowd that attended the rally of the Party in Sokoto from the Niger Republic.
Speaking on Tuesday during the inauguration of the campaign council of the APC in Kaduna, the governor described the opposition party campaign inauguration in Sokoto as a gang-up of “thieves”.
“Thieves have ganged-up against President Muhammadu Buhari. Yesterday, they were in Sokoto and they rented a crowd from the Niger Republic just to show people that they have supporters because Sokoto people refused to come out,” El-Rufai said.
Reacting in a post on Twitter, Sani taunted the APC to rent its supporters from Sudan since the PDP had already hired theirs from Niger Republic.
“If they rent theirs from Niger because of proximity; You can rent yours from Sudan because of affinity,” he wrote.
